How exactly do you go about building a brand?

Well, we get this question quite a bit so we decided to consolidate the on-going process into 4 simple steps. Please note that these are brief, to-the-point and do include some links to further in-depth resources per step.

1. Crafting a Brand: Plan

Any great process starts with a plan. Precisely why a Brand Strategy will help you understand who you are, who you are talking to, how you are different, how you will communicate this effectively, and much more. Simon Sinek always says “Start With Why” – we couldn’t agree more.

2. Crafting a Brand: Identify

After a solid strategy, a professional logo and identity system is your first step in the right direction. As any good chef knows, people eat with their eyes first. Just as a chef doesn’t create for his own palette, rather for the experience of his chosen audience, so a logo and identity must be focused on the overarching strategy. Not preferences.

3. Crafting a Brand: Implement

With your Visual Identity System intact, you will have clear direction on how your touchpoints should be created, implemented, and controlled. Such as signage, stationery, interiors, website, products, ads, colors, imagery, etc.

4. Crafting a Brand: Refine

The branding process is not one that is completed at a given point, but rather a perpetually evolving process that is further refining. This is the management of your brand. By monitoring the pulse of your audience(and industry) in relation to your brand, one must have a growth mindset to successfully create, nurture, and grow their brand/business.
